What is the Moorings Neighbourhood Forum?

We are a group of Moorings residents, businesses, services and community groups who have come together hoping to benefit the Moorings and its community in the future. In June 2019 we became formally “designated” as a Neighbourhood Forum by the Royal Borough of Greenwich (RBG) and in the future be involved in neighbourhood planning processes in the area. You can find out more about Neighbourhood Planning here.

We have been meeting since winter 2017, discussing local issues and priorities. The application to Royal Borough of Greenwich was supported by over 50 people who have signed up to being members of the Moorings Neighbourhood Forum. The full application can be found here. The forum is always open for residents, contact us and look at our upcoming meetings to find out more.

The Committee

The Moorings Neighbourhood Forum Committee is a smaller group of 10 local people that meets every month to progress discussion of the full Forum and develop ideas and initiatives prior to decisions being taken by the full Forum. In addition to the committee there are a number of key officer posts which are detailed below:

Deborah Frimpong (Chair) is a mum of nine who believes in seeing Thamesmead the best place it can be. Initially, a Dental Nurse living in Canada, she returned to the UK where she has been actively involved in the community in a variety of roles for over 20 years as well as supporting her husband’s church ministry.

Derek Sewell (Vice-chair) is a relative newcomer to Thamesmead having moved here from central London nearly 10 years ago. Since moving here, he has sought to help the community. He is a keen photographer and pastor of Titmuss Avenue Baptist Church.
